The ESN Latvia Member of the Month initiative, organized by the ESN Latvia National Board, highlights the most outstanding individuals from various local sections of ESN Latvia. In September, the title of Member of the Month was awarded to ESN Riga Vice-President Tamari Abakelia.

Tako [as her friends like to call her] joined ESN Riga in 2023 after an amazing time as an Erasmus student in Riga in 2019. From day one, she jumped into the events team, bringing her energy and ideas to diverse projects. During her time as a volunteer, she realized how much she wanted her voice to be heard. After getting really involved in ESN Riga life, Tako decided to run for the Vice-President role for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Tako's mandate may have started recently, but she’s already made a significant impact by implementing positive HR and leadership initiatives that have brought structure and organization to the section. Thanks to her efforts, ESN Riga has launched the ESN Riga Academy, inviting students from both ESN Riga and other ESN Latvia sections to expand their knowledge. Tako truly embodies the core values of ESN — cooperation, openness, and fun — making the volunteer experience at ESN Riga even more enriching!
