ESN Riga, established in 2003, is an official representative of Erasmus Student Network in Latvia that primarily cooperates with the University of Latvia, but has been working with the international departments of other Latvian universities since 2007. Its primary goals are to represent the interests of international students studying in Latvia and to help them become part of the local community. ESN Riga adheres to the ESN principle of students helping students by helping the University of Latvia students find buddies and by organizing events that give international students a chance to get to know each other better.

ESN Riga together with ESN Jelgava and ESN Valmiera are the 3 sections that make up the national platform of ESN Latvia which has regularly attended Council of National Representatives meetings as well as been present at the Annual General Meeting. ESN Riga has also been a member of the National Youth Council of Latvia (LJP) since 2008.

• Safeguarding the interests and rights of international students
• Encouraging their integration into the local community as well as ensuring their safety
• Organizing a buddy system for international students at the University of Latvia
• Preparing trips, events and activities for students
• Advocating increased mobility in Latvia
